Longrie dot com LLC is the business personality of Terry Longrie a software engineer located in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  

I have 16 years of professional experience designing, developing, and most importantly delivering working software products for a variety of industries and needs.  I started my career developing supply chain management software for Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors and Sony.  If you own a PlayStation, have purchased a DVD, or have ever driven an Opel automobile then it is likely that software to which I contributed has played some part in the process of getting these products from the factory to the store.  

Since 2006 I have moved on to independent work providing consulting and development services for web, Java, Mac OS X, iPhone, and now iPad based projects.  My Mac, iPhone, and iPad development experience essentially spans back to the world of the NeXT computer when, in the early 90's I developed an Objective C and Appkit (now known as Cocoa) application used for educational purposes to illustrate various analog encryption concepts.  After Apples's purchase of NeXT I maintained these skills developing a number of personal-use applications for the then fledgling Mac OS X.  Since the release of the iPhone development kit in early 2008 I have designed and developed five apps that are currently available in the iTunes app store.

January 19th, 2010 - Web Page Thumbnails in Java
For a recent project I found myself needing to create thumbnail images of web pages as they would appear in one's browser.  Apparently I am not the only one with such a need and I eventually came across this question on Stack Overflow. Inspired by the accepted answer I came up with the following implementation of the process that is described.

July 27, 2009 - Test Credit Card Numbers
When working on shopping cart and other e-commerce payment related systems one often needs to perform various tests using actual credit card numbers to ensure that the system works and behaves as expected. To this end each credit card provider has created a set of "test" credit card numbers which fulfill the basic validation requirements but will never, ever, be issued on an actual card. These test numbers can then be used when testing your e-commerce application without having to worry about revealing your own credit card details.
