As of July 3rd, 2010 Shush Buddy version 2.0 has been submitted to Apple for approval. Version 2.0 provides full support for iOS version 4.0 including background audio. When used on a device that allows multitasking (iPhone 4 or 3GS) Shush Buddy can continue to play shushing sounds when running in the background. Once your baby is calmed you can keep the shushing going but still use the phone for other tasks. |

Shush Buddy transforms your iPhone into a device specifically designed to help quiet your fussy baby. White noise "shushing sounds" help comfort a crying baby as they reproduce the sounds baby was used to hearing while on the inside. While parents can shush as well as any recording, fussy babies can often outlast Mom and Dad's energy and patience. As such, pediatricians often recommend using household appliances such as hair dryers or vacuum cleaners to achieve this same result. However, in practice the logistics of keeping such devices at quick reach, plugged in, and ready for quick use is not terribly feasible. This is especially true when on-the-go. Pulling out a hair dryer and finding an outlet just doesn't work when at the mall and is guaranteed to get you some strange looks and questions when visiting relatives or friends. To this end Shush Buddy includes twelve quality recordings of just these types of shushing sounds. | Shush Buddy comes with 12 built in white noise "Shushing" sounds that have been found to work great when trying to calm a crying baby. Each sound plays back in a seamless loop with no discernible pops or glitches to disrupt your child's attention. For quick playback just tap one of the six sound buttons at the top of the device to start and tap the same button again to stop. Shush Buddy's easy-to-set timer comes in handy for use at bedtime to help baby stay sleeping. The timer is settable in 5 minute increments in 1 hour, 4 hour, and 8 hour ranges. The 1 hour range works good for daytime naps when baby is perhaps a bit cranky, but doesn't quite want to fall asleep. The 4 hour range is good for newborns who need to be feed every 3 - 4 hours even if they are still sleeping. The 8 hour range is for older babies who are starting to sleep through the night but just need a bit of extra assurance that everything is O.K. | White noises work great as a baby calming technique but baby has been hearing Mom and Dad's voices since before he or she was born. Tucked away under a swipe-to-open drawer Shush Buddy's recording functionality can be used to record your own shushing sounds, white noises, lullabies, or just yourself talking. Leaving Shush Buddy with a babysitter, with a recording of your own voices, works well in keeping baby happy when Mom and Dad are out. Another fun use of Shush Buddy is to record the sounds of your babies favorite toys and play them back during playtime. Many toys stop playing their sounds after a short interval. However, the seamless playback of Shush Buddy ensures that the sound won't stop before baby is done playing. | The sharing function of Shush Buddy allows you to share sounds that you have recorded with other Shush Buddy users. Likewise you may download and use sounds that have been shared by others. Sharing occurs only at your discretion. No sounds will leave your device unless you specifically tell Shush Buddy to make them available. However, sounds that work well for you are also likely to work well for others. So, if you're not too self-conscious, share your sounds and lullabies for other parents and their babies to enjoy! Shush Buddy has six sound buttons from which individual sounds are selected for playback. But, available storage space on your iPhone or iPod Touch is the only limit on the total number of sounds that can be used. Individual sounds can be renamed, rearranged between the six sound playback buttons, and given ratings (0 to 5 stars) and descriptions to help you remember which sounds work best for you and your baby. The thumb-wheel control on each sound playback button lets you assign multiple sounds to each. Keep your favorites at the top for quick access. Less frequently used sounds are still a swipe or two away. | Boy or girl, pink or blue, Shush Buddy comes in your choice of four colors. Fraternal twins? No problem - just go with either the green or yellow option! Color choice is a configurable option on the flip side of the application. | Tips displayed during the operation of the application help you get the most from Shush Buddy.
